TODAY’S FOCUS: THE FOOT

Organ Overview

In this brochure, you’ll be informed about keeping a healthy FOOT and the health risks involving an unhealthy FOOT.

What should I be concerned with?

Below is a list of three common issues of an unhealthy FOOT.

  • Athlete’s Foot- this is when your foot feels itchy, burning, and stings.
  • Blisters- fluid on the foot pooling in small pockets.
  • Bunions- that bump you find on the side of your big toe? Yep. It may be a bunion.

What can a doctor do for this?

In this section, you’ll learn about what the doctor can do to help you battle your unhealthy FOOT.

  • Athlete’s Foot- Your doctor may prescribe an oral antifungal medication to battle this condition
  • Blisters- Alone, blisters don’t need to be treated by your doctor. A bandage can help you with the pain. However if you have consistent blisters followed by other symptoms then consult your doctor.
  • Bunions- Your doctor may prescribe specially made foot inserts or a splint. If neither of these work to get rid of your bunion, your doctor may resort to surgery.

What can I do at home in the wake of Covid-19?

Finally, we come to the section where you take charge of your health.

Thanks to Covid-19, many of us would rather not venture out into the public to prevent ourselves from contracting the Coronavirus.

Below is a small list of things you can do at home to help you win your FOOT back.

  • Athlete’s Foot- One thing to remember is keep your foot clean and dry. When drying your foot, use a separate towel to prevent any bacteria from spreading. You can also have someone visit the local drugstore and get lotions, and foot sprays specifically designed to fight Athlete’s foot.
  • Blisters- Blisters heal in time. Don’t force them to burst. A bandage is usually the best for the pain.
  • Bunions- Wear proper fitting shoes. None too tight, or too loose. Also, you can have someone go to your local shoe store and get a bunion pad to help prevent too much pressure against the bunion.
